Have we established daily, weekly and monthly approaches that restore? How have these been integrated into our lifestyle? Increase what is working for you. Try new things to keep it fresh – like some new skins products or a new spa service.

 Spanista-Suggests-Susanne-Kaufmann-Alpine-Organic-Collection-1.jpegPINIMAGESpanista-Suggests-Susanne-Kaufmann-Alpine-Organic-Collection.jpegPINIMAGE

Dear Wellness Seekers,

Spanista Suggests Susanne Kaufmann’s Alpine Organic Collection discovered in the Wall Street Journal Spring Fashion Issue titled “Profiles in Style”. The article is “The Beauty of Alpine Organic” by Gisela Williams. I immediately recall while being in Austria, the feeling of freshness that consumed me when I was walking in the glorious outdoors. The richly royal forests and stately mountains provide a different type of oxygen – somehow purer in nature that restores your heart and soul. The overwhelming touch of spirituality on my soul. A Spanista’s Self Care heaven. When I came upon this review of Susanne Kaufman’s inspired new organic skin products – my fond memories came flooding back.

Fifth generation hotelier Susanne Kaufmann understands the need for clean beauty to heal and raise the spirits – whether it is in the transformation of her families resort which she guided, her new Spa in the Hotel Bezau in Bregenz Forest, Austria or in the design of her line of two dozen organic skin-care products. These products use traditional methods and materials but filtered through a minimal, modern aesthetic. From herbs to packaging, she sourced almost everything from the surrounding Bregnenz Forest valley, where she was born. Brilliant indeed. Now her collection is available through Net-a-Porter to boutique Aedes de Venustas in New York. And at Susnanne.Kaufmann.com.

The overhaul of the Hotel Bezau includes a sumptuous new spa that joins her other spa locations with an eye on luxury. They are places of beauty, relaxation and holistic comfort. Ms. Kaufmann services center on skin competence in various highly effective treatment techniques are combined here into an innovative spa concept.

Spanista Suggests Susanne Kaufmann’s Alpine Organic Collection as a way to enjoy a piece of the Austrian Alpine experience at home.  Perhaps you have a holiday planned in Europe in 2015? Why not plan  a few days at Hotel Bezau and Spa. Those lucky guests who have enjoyed the spa, report a successful result is visible even after the first applications. Treatment forms drawing upon Traditional Chinese Medicine, body treatments, massages and rituals are also intense and beneficial. The special treatments, plant ingredients, traditional applications and massage techniques complement each other to produce intensive, lasting experiences.  Find more information about Susanne Kaufmann Spa at Hotel Post Bezau www.hotelpostbezau.com.

Please let our Wellness Seekers know if you try Susanne’s Organic Collection and how it makes you feel.

The-View-Spanista-Sees-Lessons-In-Self-Awareness.jpegPINIMAGE

Dear Wellness Seekers,

The View-Spanista Sees Self Awareness Lessons for everyone.

In The New York Times Sunday Styles Section the lead story about The View called “Family Feuds” by Laura M. Holson caught my attention for a host of reasons. After reading it I reflected upon my experiences. Here are three reasons to be specific:

1. When The View launched in 1997 is was a breakout platform envisioned by Barbara Walters the favored icon of women’s news and entertainment who held iconic ‘the best of ‘ stature in broadcasting. The promise of 4 strong, intelligent women tackling news and culture topics, all coming from diverse backgrounds was exciting, inspiring and novel in daytime talk. Ms. Walter’s clearly demonstrated from her series of interview specials she understood the celebrity factor in our lives as they became must see events watched by millions. She had her finger on the pulse of hard news at the intersection of pop culture. At the time, given this, my prediction to my clients was get in early as this format has potential to generate high women’s audiences and staying power.

2. The co-hosts Ms. Walters choose to surround herself with are a dynamic blend of success on their own terms – like a brilliant recipe with eclectic ingredients that only a master chef could bring together in the rights measures – their qualities are more powerful together than each might be on their own. A new entertaining Daytime Cuisine was created and millions craved after the first taste. I loved the potential spark of the mix – Barbara, a seasoned news broadcaster and ringmaster; Starr Jones, a smart defense attorney turned news reporter in the OJ Simpson trial; Joy Behar, a well-regarded, savvy comedian and a high-profile smart, and Meredith Vieira, respected morning broadcast anchor on a national network.

3. It highlighted issues of interest to women upfront and center. For the very first time there was no filtering or defensiveness about topics of principle interest to us, we could explore them freely from various angles – but mostly in ways that would not allow ourselves to go over the deep end over anything. To strike the right balance. In the end women’s worth and intelligence was validated – what we think matters and we can share our thoughts freely. This is the essence of the American way. It was fun and informative. An example of alpha women enjoying each others intellect while they shared the stage.

The first several years were magical for The View. Oddly, back in 1997 I found myself able to see things from behinds the scenes. I was intrigued enough early on about The View’s potential, I eventually contacted one of the hosts about a potential partnership with a client. We attended the show at the studio – met the ladies. My client and this host had a lot in common that could be designed into a mutually beneficial program. After a bit of  navigation with both parties I was able to make it happen. Both parties benefited from and enjoyed the experience as The View’s ratings steadily rose. I admired the great example these women set for us – sharing points of view, finding the humor in things with no one thinking they were more right than the other.

Spanista Takeaway: The View-Spanista Sees Self Awareness Lessons, so what is Spanista’s view on The View? The magic ingredient of the show in the early successful was RESPECT. The original cast demonstrated by actions on air they deeply respected each other – treated each other with a special kind of sisterhood that comes from a place of self-awareness, decorum and accomplishment. With strong self-awareness one performs with self-control – the kind that tells you when to take the high road. Or when enough is enough. Or that righteousness is not the point of the show. The View worked for the longest time – until the evils of FAME took hold overshadowed the sisterhood. Once the hosts changed, the ingredients changed. The new host did not hold the same level of respectful sisterhood that comes with a self-esteem. I knew this person well from years previous direct experience too. Once the hosts changed, the ingredients changed, the recipe not longer worked.

What your take on The View?

Happy-St.-PatrickPINIMAGE

Dear Wellness Seekers,

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Blessing: Art of Being Lucky takes a closer look at a notion that plays into many people’s lives. For example, you hear comments from successful people saying ” I was lucky.” St. Patrick’s Cathedral pictured here has always been a lucky place for me when living in New York – I do believe as a spiritual touchstone, it gave me strength to Be Lucky in the big city.

Today, it seems like a good day to examine the Art of Being Lucky. There are two kinds of luck. The first has to do with what you have, while the second has to do with what you don’t have. The first kind of luck has been described as the pursuit of happiness (looking back on the good things in your life), while the second kind is a fountainhead where at times, one can instantly experience pure joy (unexpected coincidences).

With Happy St. Patrick’s Day upon us, why not learn to experience luck in the present tense?  If you are proactive about it you can feel just as lucky as someone who recently received some long-awaited good news, without having to endure a period of anxiety beforehand. So let’s put on our shamrock glasses to see things differently.

Now step it up to the Art of Being Lucky – You cannot control what you get from life but you can learn to be lucky all the same. Only when you reject cliché’s about success will you be so lucky as to be very fortunate in the end.

Happy-St.-PatrickPINIMAGE

Happy-St.-PatrickPINIMAGESay you land a new apartment in the Manhattan neighborhood you love and while walking to work a new way you discover a fabulous green waterfall park! Then you turn down another street and pass by a gallery window where a beautiful painting is being hung that mirrors the feeling you got when you stepped into the park. You look into the Gallery and suddenly see an old college friend you lost track of. You reconnect through the glass window. Lady luck?

Now you cannot control what you can get from life, but you can learn to be lucky all the same. The trick is to get so organized that eventually your plans will go astray and Lady Luck will have no choice but to show her hand. The best strategy is to treat your life as a journey, happiness as an adventure to the Land of Oz.

When learning the Art of Being Lucky, traveling is the metaphor of choice. look at life as you were planning for a great trip.Tthe night before you go about your first day of sight seeing carefully peruse the map to locate various points of interest. Study your transportation modes and makes plans on what your will do to get from point A to B. Write down the exact hours you want o be at each point. In other words make a plan.

Now as the day begins, relax about it. Start with the plan but allow yourself to go with the flow. Being prepared gives you the extra confidence you will need to take calculated risks, linger too long over lunch, let yourself be seduced by a roadside attraction, try a short cut. It is usually when luck smiles on you. The tipping point is likely to be the weird coincidence. Quite by chance you will come upon something special happens that brings you a rush of joy – you see a beautiful painting you always wanted to see by chance because you tool the short cut and then you hear a guest at the hotel bar talking about it and you strike up a conversation and make a new friend –  when randomness gets up close and personal, you know that you are on the right track.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Blessing: Art of Being Lucky is a premonition, though you don’t know what will happen next, you feel that you have secured the blessings of the gods. In life only when you take the chance of being a little wrong will things turn out right when all is said and done. May luck be yours!

Ginny

Good-News-Monday:-Tampa-Riverwalk-Comes-To-Life-3.jpegPINIMAGEGood-News-Monday:-Tampa-Riverwalk-Comes-To-Life-4.jpegPINIMAGE

Dear Wellness Seekers,

Good News Monday: Tampa Riverwalk Comes To Life along the Hillsborough River downtown. It has been planned for completion some time ago so seeing it progress is very exciting.

It is a great spot for a Reflection Walk in downtown that is know mostly to those who live near or in the city proper. Starting from newly developed Waterworks Park, where Shakespeare in the Park was being performed, stepping down to the Kennedy Bridge and back makes about a 2 mile stroll. A perfect outing for a focused Self Care time.  Now thanks to new monies flowing into the city by Boston investor Jeffrey Vinik who also is the owner of the Tampa Bay Lightening Hockey Team, the new phase of the Riverwalk is under construction with a dedication to be completed in 2016. It has a unique sense of design that will set this city apart of other such ventures that celebrates the natural geography while modernizing its utility for human enjoyment. Mr. Vinik, I do thank you for seeing the vibrant potential of this city.

The Tampa Riverwalk plans to tie together the various cultural and entertainment features. Here are 10 things to enjoy in area:

1. Straz Center for Performing Arts, one of my favorites – strazcenter.org

2. Curtis-Hixon Greenway Park

3. Glazer Children’s Museum and Water Park

4. Tampa Museum of Art

5. University of Tampa with its architectural treasure – the minarets which where once the stately symbols of the historical Tampa Bay Hotel, now a service hall.

6. Tampa Convention Center where the last Republican Presidential Convention was held

7. Amalie Arena, home to the Tampa Bay Lightening

8. Cruise Ship Passenger Center and Docks

And it will connect various 9.) hotels and 10.) restaurants along the way. Along with The Tampa Riverwalk development will come many more such welcome establishments as the development takes shape.

Spanista Takeaway – Good News Monday: Tampa Riverwalk Comes To Life along the Hillsborough River was time well spent. Seeing this kind progress is energizing for the soul and many people enjoying it while thinking about the promise of what is to come. On the walk back I noticed a new exhibit at the Tampa Museum of Art, one of the most popular American artists of the past century, Norman Rockwell (1894–1978), a keen observer of human nature and a gifted storyteller.  For nearly seven decades, while history was in the making all around him, Rockwell chronicled our changing society in the small details and nuanced scenes of ordinary people in everyday life, providing a personalized interpretation—albeit often an idealized one—of American identity. Rockwell’s contributions to our visual legacy are many. I really want to see his works so plans are int he making. Do you have a favorite Rockwell image?
